Basic ornamental objects and accessories like rings bracelets necklacesdiadems and belts that emerged as a result of the relationship with the human physical form have reached our age preserving the same functions despite changing ages and cultures. The differences in the design of these ornamental objects have come to reflect the cultural identity of the society they were born in. It is for this reason that while studying the Anatolian ornamental art in a historical cross section extending from the prehistoric to the Byzantine age I have tired to briefly give an account of the political and socio-economic structure of each period and culture in chronological order.
